eCredit Extension for Itineraries with a Qualifying Disruption between May 16 and Oct 27   

As used in this document, eCredits refer to the residual value on existing tickets for itineraries impacted by qualifying disruptions between May 16 and October 27, 2024.

As part of our work to ensure compliance with new DOT Passenger Protections, we are extending the validity of eCredits issued to customers who experienced a qualifying disruption to their itinerary between May 16 and Oct. 27, 2024.  This action extends the eCredit validity period to five years after the impact date for qualifying itinerary disruptions. Notifications to these customers have begun via email and customers may already see new expiration dates for tickets.

Customers can opt for a full refund on the unflown portion of their tickets instead of keeping the eCredits.

Action requested

Travel agents are encouraged to use these eCredits as soon as possible to avoid having them purged from the GDS. Delta will be working to convert these eCredits into another format that can be used beyond the normal 1 – 2 years that the eCredits are available in the GDS.

It is essential that our agency partners align with Delta’s refund policy so that all parties stay in compliance with the DOT rules.

Why are some eCredits being extended to 5-year validity?

A. New rules require that eCredits issued in lieu of refunds to original forms of payment must be valid for 5 years. As a result, we are extending eligible eCredits issued to customers that experienced a qualifying disruption to their itinerary between May 16 and Oct. 27, 2024 to have 5-year validity.

Q. Are we extending all eCredits to 5 years?

A. No, only eCredits issued to customers who experienced a qualifying IROP / schedule change to their itinerary between May 16 and Oct. 27, 2024 in lieu of refund to original form of payment are valid for 5 years after the impact date.

Q. How are customers being notified?

A. Customers will be notified via e-mail of the extension as well as the right to receive a refund instead of eCredit.
