Delta adds Basic Economy between Atlanta and Lima, Santiago and Buenos Aires; expands offering for Quito, Bogota, Cartagena, Panama City, and San Salvador

Effective July 30, 2019, Delta began offering Basic Economy between Atlanta, Georgia (ATL) and Lima, Peru (LIM); Santiago, Chile (SCL); and Buenos Aires, Argentina (EZE). Delta will also further expand Basic Economy for travel between the U.S. and Quito, Ecuador (UIO); Bogota, Colombia (BOG); Cartagena, Colombia (CTG); Panama City, Panama (PTY); and San Salvador, El Salvador (SAL).

The continued expansion of Basic Economy in Latin America is part of Delta’s ongoing effort to make the fare product available in more international markets. The product is designed for price-conscious customers needing less flexibility who still want Delta’s high-quality on-board experience.

With the addition of Basic Economy, Delta will charge a first and second bag fee for Basic Economy travelers in these markets. Passengers who purchase Basic Economy tickets on or after July 30, 2019 between Atlanta, Georgia (ATL) and Lima, Peru (LIM); Santiago, Chile (SCL); and Buenos Aires, Argentina (EZE), will be charged $60 for the first checked bag and $100 for the second checked bag. Main Cabin passengers in these markets will not be assessed a first or second bag fee.

Delta is also updating its baggage policy for passengers traveling in Main Cabin between the U.S. and Colombia, effective for tickets issued on or after July 30, 2019. For travel between the U.S. and Colombia, a second bag fee will be introduced for Main Cabin fares. Main Cabin passengers will continue to receive the first checked bag for free in these markets.
