Ticket Validity Extension Through Year-End 2023 Updated December 08, 2023
To give customers more flexibility in their travel plans, Delta is offering another industry-leading ticket validity extension through year-end 2023.
In January 2022, Delta announced that all existing unused tickets previously extended through December 31, 2022, will have an additional year of flexibility for rebooking and traveling. In addition, all new tickets purchased in 2022 will be valid through December 31, 2023. Customers will be able to rebook and reissue their ticket by December 31, 2023, for travel in 2024. No additional changes will be permitted to the ticket after December 31, 2023.
Accessing Tickets
- No further action needs to be taken by our travel agency partners to ensure these tickets remain open for use.
- Ticket validity for qualifying tickets has been extended to December 31, 2023.
- Tickets must be reissued by December 31, 2023; travel may occur in 2024.
- Tickets that are more than two years old will need to be manually exchanged in the GDS.
- For instructions on how to retrieve eTickets or complete a manual exchange via your GDS, please contact your GDS Help Desk.
- These exchange transactions will be processed for normal settlement via ARC and BSP.
Ticket Summary Timeline
Tickets Issued April 1, 2019 – February 29, 2020
For tickets booked for travel before February 25, 2020 (International) or before March 1, 2020 (Domestic) for select corporate and agency customers:
- Ticket validity for qualifying tickets has been extended to December 31, 2023.
- Tickets must be reissued by December 31, 2023; travel may occur in 2024.
- Change fees apply:
- $200 USD for domestic itineraries
- Contact Global Sales Support for international itineraries
- Customers may apply the unused ticket toward future travel for the same itinerary or for a different city pair or date.
- Travel Agencies may use the full value of the original ticket as a Form of Payment.
- The new ticket is subject to new fare rules and any difference in fare if applicable.
- If new ticket is of lower value than original ticket a residual value MCO may be issued for the difference.
- Basic Economy tickets are no longer valid and do not qualify for ticket validity extension.
Tickets Issued on/before April 17, 2020
For tickets booked for travel on/after February 25, 2020 (International) or on/after March 1, 2020 (Domestic – within the 50 U.S. or between the 50 U.S. and Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands):
- Ticket validity for qualifying tickets has been extended to December 31, 2023.
- Tickets must be reissued by December 31, 2023; travel may occur in 2024.
- No change fee applies.
- Customers may apply the unused ticket toward future travel for the same itinerary or for a different city pair or date.
- Travel Agencies may use the full value of the original ticket as a Form of Payment.
- The new ticket is subject to new fare rules and any difference in fare if applicable.
- If new ticket is of lower value than original ticket a residual value MCO may be issued for the difference.
- Includes Basic Economy tickets.
Tickets Issued between March 1, 2020, and April 30, 2021
For tickets booked for travel anytime:
- Ticket validity for qualifying tickets has been extended to December 31, 2023.
- Tickets must be reissued by December 31, 2023; travel may occur in 2024.
- No change fee applies.
- Customers may apply the unused ticket toward future travel for the same itinerary or for a different city pair or date.
- Travel Agencies may use the full value of the original ticket as a Form of Payment.
- The new ticket is subject to new fare rules and any difference in fare if applicable.
- If new ticket is of lower value than original ticket a residual value MCO may be issued for the difference.
- Includes Basic Economy tickets.
Tickets Issued between May 1, 2021 and December 31, 2022
For tickets booked for travel anytime:
- Ticket validity for qualifying tickets has been extended to December 31, 2023.
- Tickets must be reissued by December 31, 2023; travel may occur in 2024.
- Change fee may apply, please check fare rule.
- Customers may apply the unused ticket toward future travel for the same itinerary or for a different city pair or date.
- Travel Agencies may use the full value of the original ticket as a Form of Payment.
- The new ticket is subject to new fare rules and any difference in fare if applicable.
- If new ticket is of lower value than original ticket a residual value MCO may be issued for the difference.

Wholly Unused vs. Partially Used Tickets
- Wholly Unused Ticket: Customers may apply a valid wholly unused ticket toward future travel for the same itinerary or for a different city pair or date. The new ticket is subject to new fare rules and any difference in fare if applicable. Travel Agencies may use the full value of the original ticket as a Form of Payment.
- If new ticket is of lower value than original ticket a residual value MCO may be issued for the difference.
- Partially Used Ticket: To apply a partially used ticket, Travel Agents must contact Global Sales Support or Delta Reservations for assistance.
- If new ticket is of lower value than original ticket a residual value MCO may be issued for the difference.
Agency-Issued MCOs
- Agency-issued MCOs issued in 2020 were extended through Dec. 31, 2022.
- Agency-issued MCOs issued on/after Jan. 1, 2021, are valid for exchange one year from the date of issue. Please refer to Delta Professional for more information.
