Preferred Seating
Delta allows our most valued customers access to preferential advance seat assignments. This service is called Preferred Seating ("P" seats). Preferred Seating is offered on Delta and Delta Connection® flights, subject to availability.
Please note: Select seats may be reassigned to passengers with certain categories of disability. A ticket must be issued prior to the assigning of a Preferred Seat (P seat). Preferred Seating is not eligible for passengers who purchased Basic Economy.
Complimentary Preferred Seating
Except with respect to Basic Economy fares*, Preferred Seats are complimentary any time after ticketing occurs for:
- Passengers that have purchased full Y, B and M fares
- Medallion SkyMiles members:
- Diamond Medallion (DM)
- Platinum Medallion (PM)
- Gold Medallion (GM)
- Silver Medallion (FO)
- Diamond Medallion (DM)
- Joint Venture Elite, SkyTeam Elite and Elite Plus partner members
- Companions (up to 8) traveling with a Medallion SkyMiles member when they are booked in the same reservation. If traveling on the same segment(s) as the Medallion member but in different reservations, please contact Global Sales Support or Delta Reservations for assistance.
- Agency or Corporate accounts due to contract negotiations
*Basic Economy (E) fares are not eligible for paid or complimentary Preferred Seats, regardless of Medallion or other elite status.
Preferred seats are shown on the seat map by a P indicator, following a row number. Preferred seats may include desirable window, aisle and exit row seats**. The SkyMiles or other Frequent Flyer number must appear in the PNR (OSI or SSRFQTV) and reflect the member's qualifying status as listed above.
**Exit row seats - Click here for more information regarding assigning exit row seats.
Preferred Seating for Purchase
For non-Preferred Seat eligible customers, Preferred Seats will be available for purchase starting 45 days prior to departure through the check-in window. Preferred Seats are available to purchase via delta.com.
Travel agency partners who subscribe to Amadeus or Travelport (Worldspan, Apollo and Galileo) GDSs now have the ability to sell Delta’s Preferred Seats via their GDS. Exceptions apply.
The agency workflow to process a paid Preferred Seat is the same workflow that is used when selling Delta Comfort+™ in markets where it is sold as an ancillary seat product.
Fees will be charged per customer per segment.
Please note: Circumvention of the seating program is subject to audit and debit memos.
